Will someone please tell Dodger that "reckless" tackling can now lead to red cards? He seems to produce a kamikaze lunge every game. What a sublime pass he produced for Saturday's equaliser though.

To be a pedant, reckless is a caution. But the "Dodgson lunge" that he produces every week could be characterised as excessive force.

Careless, reckless, using excessive force
“Careless” means that the player has shown a lack of attention or
consideration when making a challenge or that he acted without precaution.
• No further disciplinary sanction is needed if a foul is judged to be careless

“Reckless” means that the player has acted with complete disregard to the
danger to, or consequences for, his opponent.
• A player who plays in a reckless manner must be cautioned

“Using excessive force” means that the player has far exceeded the necessary
use of force and is in danger of injuring his opponent.
• A player who uses excessive force must be sent off

Not pedantry, but a helpful setting out of the Laws as they currently stand. Thanks!

I don't agree. Some of them are poor, but some are OK. Any game where you don't really notice the ref, this means the ref has had a good game. Perhaps every other game. I reckon we complain about refs a lot more than we should. It's a bit like crying wolf - if we complain about the ref every game, it's not only unfair to the good ones, it also lets the poor ones off the hook.

Reffing is really hard and no one ever thanks you for it.

I always suspect that, in every game, every single player will make more mistakes than the referee does--and our view of the ref's decisions isn't exactly unbiased. Can't help feeling too that we owe a few refs for not red carding Dodger.
