Farsley 0-0

This game pretty much sums up why we will fall just short of the playoffs this season.
Absolutely played the best form-team in the league off the park for 45 minutes and didn't score. We couldn't have created better chances in that time as well. Three one-on-ones all came and went, two hitting the post.
Defensively we were superb however. Ricky Mercer with one of the best point-saving shot-blocks late on as well. As the second half wore on we began to tire, understandable after the derby and Farsley having a week off.
Still, we bossed them one of the best teams in the league. On another day we'd have won 4 or 5-0. I just think as a team, as it showed against Kendal, we just aren't used to scoring a shed load of goals. I can't remember that many games in the last three years (that weren't against Wakefield) where we scored more than 2/3 goals. Think in the league there was only the Prescot game...and I wasn't even there

Whilst I wasn't there yesterday, it does seem that we've drawn a lot of games we should have won and as I said previously, that could cost us a playoff place. Although we are in good form at present, four draws out of the last 11 games will not get us into the top five if we carry on in the same vein.We have recently played several of the top sides and failed to beat any of them in truth,so we will need to start winning more and therefore putting away more chances. As Keith pointed out in the last bulletin,we now have only Warrington at home as a top team to face, so 10 or 11 wins are probably going to be needed if we are to be in with a chance.

I was only talking about league games, as teams like Washington and West Allotment weren't exactly up to much. If you take out the basement teams that are, in the case of New Mills, Wakefield, Radcliffe etc., just making up the numbers then there aren't many.

That's right, if you look at the top half of the league, only Ossett Albion have scored fewer goals per game (1.38), than ourselves (1.60).LFC-LCFC wrote:

What a shame we can't play Droylsden at the moment. 16 goals conceded in the space of 48 hours. I think even we might have scored a few against them. They weren't as generous when we played them recently.
