Well thats because we only had 2 players of note. And they haven't moved up a level (yet).

As Janb kindly points out, many of the best players that we may sign in future will most likely be ones that we don't know about, but then again if we don't know who they are, how are we to fill pages on here during the summer? What else is there to do at this time of year?(other than coming down next weekend & working on the ground.....hint,hint)
I think you have deliberately misunderstood my "shop window" comment, although this will hopefully at least stimulate some conversation & save us having to fantasise about players who are past their sell-by dates

Fearon, Carney, Jarvis, Jacko, Mahoney and Hunter would be my choices.
Think it's a shame Fearon's not playing every week. Might be a long shot he ever returns but surely he must want to start playing regularly again at some point. Never wanted Carney to leave. Jarvis and Jacko would give our squad an injection of creativity in different situations which was something we lacked all last season. Mahoney and Hunter would be two ideal midfield players to give us some muscle in the middle.
Assuming no one else leaves, that would give us:

Fearon
Wills, Marshy, Winters, Elderton
Mahoney, Hunter
Swarbrick, Jackson, Jarvis
Kilifin
Subs: Hudson, Carney, McKenna, Winder, *sub striker*
Don't know about the sub striker. What's Alan Coar up to these days? Shame that we don't have Rhys Turner around any more. But that team wouldn't cost us the Earth and would be pretty effective.

Daz was gud at holding the ball up but I think e wud agree he never had much pace to work the defenders and to track back with the full back etc I do think we need creative midfield players like Dodgson who can feed the strikers I would be more up set if we lost Tom (Killer)Killerfin who is a natural goal scorer who works his socks off (how many goals did e ended with and was he top goal scorer)I know if I was manager Which striker I would break the bank to keep and as for Danny going he has lost the opportunity to improve his game with the manager being a ex centre half who might put a City shirt on if needed

I think e would have been more effective at centre mid and if you compare him to wills winters and winder swaba at wat we had last season I do think we need more bigger, stronger mid field players as we did get out muscled especially on set pieces but it`s finding those players I know

I thought Dodger was at his best in centre mid during the 11/12 season. Last season was a bit of a disaster for him. Perhaps our tactics just didn't suit a "on the ground" football like him?

I agree but I wud at least gave him few games in their the players in that position just didn`t do it,the new manager wants to start from the back first which is fine but the mid field is the engine room of any gud side in this league you need box to box mid field players and strikers that can finish but mid field was very poor last season,I know it`s a 11 in players in a team but I hope we can get some player in that can do a job in there.

We've had some decent wingers at the Giant Axe over recent seasons (Jarvis, Rushton, Clark) but what became of Roger Sharrock after he recovered from injury? Connerton's goals largely dried up after Roger had left (although Connie might have had Crewe on his mind).
