Well-deserved victory over high-flying Farsley

Made a good decision today in choosing to go to the Axe rather than go to Deepdale.  The Dollies defended well throughout the match with some great blocks on goal-bound shots from Fensome and Steel.  Farsley had the greater share of possession but created very little and Sims' handling of their crosses was excellent.  The game was decided by two finishes of differing quality.  Blinkhorn was obviously delighted with his goal given that he ended up in the NM stand; an incident for which I don't recall him being booked..  The weather was again typical as the last few games at the Axe seem to have been played in similar wind and driving rain.
Does anyone on here think that we missed Winder's quality today ?

Thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed that today. They shaded it first half but didn’t actually create much and Blinkhorn a howler from 1 yard (Winder-esq Vs South Shields). But 2nd half they hardly had a sniff, absolute workhorses our lads, Charlie Bailey on fire, Dave Norris covers every blade of grass, not bad for 40 odd!

An excellent performance and thoroughly deserved victory. I didn't think we would get anything out of today but I'm delighted to be proved wrong. Superb in defence and excellent on the counter attack. Farsley seemed intent on pumping crosses into our box but we coped well in the first half and they seemed to adopt a different approach after we went in front. It was a great relief to have a two-goal cushion going into added time. The two-week break will be much sweeter now with 40 points on the board. Onwards and upwards.

I thought that Farsley shaded the first half, should've scored with a couple of haded chances & would've felt a bit unlucky not to be ahead at the break. Having said that, we defended very well, there were a few very brave blocks as players put their bodies on the line to preserve the clean sheet & 'keeper Sims dealt with a number of crosses confidently & efficiently. Discounting the headed chances, they didn't really have any clear openings.
Second half we were immense. We were the better side & they didn't really have a clear opening. Charlie took his goal well & Blinks gave a masterclass in how to finish with your head. I'm not sure which leap was the most impressive, the one that he met the ball with or the one that took him over the fence into the Neil Marshall stand. It was great to see how both of the goal scorers celebrated with the supporters, and the spirit that was shown by the whole team, the amount of effort they all put in.
I talked to a few of their fans in the bar after the game, they were disappointed with their showing, but I thought that a lot of it was down to  our defending,closing down , hard work & skill.
Charlie got MOTM which I wouldn't argue with,but Norris was immense & also that Simon Wills is so consistently outstanding that we sometimes forget to fully appreciate him. You could have made a case for almost any of the players getting it though.
Great stuff, if you weren't there you missed a treat.
I have to hold my hands up,I said before kick off that I'd settle for losing by two goals. I was totally wrong (as usual)

Of all the matches I couldn't attend this season, this happens to be one of them !!!!!!!!
It's hard to overestimate how important this result is - both for our season, and the escape from the clutches of relegation, but what it says about this squad going forward - since the Christmas period, we've embarassed South Shields, Warrington Town and now Farsley, along with a number of form sides like Whitby. One defeat in ten, and as I said in last week's Bulletin, City have only lost twice away from home since the new management team arrived. And that is despite a fearful injury list which would have derailed better clubs than ours.
I am normally an arch-pessimist, but I'm now completely confident that we will secure the necessary points to avoid the drop, and I'm already looking forward to our assault on the play-offs next season !!

I for one didn’t foresee getting to 40 points with 8 games left when Mark took over, kudos young man.
