Got what we deserved

To put it simply. Our best attempt in the second half came from their own defender!
Feels like Halifax Town all over again.

A 5-4 victory for Farsley away at Hyde hasn't helped.

Sickening. After 90 minutes their score was 4-4 and ours 2-2. We were that close to maintaining the nine point gap.South of the river wrote:A 5-4 victory for Farsley away at Hyde hasn't helped.
This year our division has no FCUM, no former league clubs like Halifax, Chester or Darlington and no moneybags club like Fylde. Will we ever have a better chance?
Still, we have nine left and Farsley twelve. Time for plenty of twists and turns over 21 games.

I do not think the pitch helped us at all and they played better on it. Too many misplaced passes and wrong choice of pass did not help. The bench full of players who were regular at some stage of this season and these players did not deserve to be left out of the side. We need Farsley to lose Tuesday as they then have 4 home games.

The pitch is indeed in a dire state, but so was the one at Ossett. Problem was unlike Ossett we were so slow and lacking any intensity. Same as when we played Trafford at home. And Colwyn Bay. And Clitheroe...
Was surprised to see Winder taken off. One of our more technical players who as against Farsley can win us matches.
Mayers then came on but played in a midfield role? Depressing game all around. Do we really want the playoffs at home?

It's not good when one talks of relying on another team's results for success. However, having said that, it is well-documented that teams with consecutive home fixtures rarely win them all. Circumstances dictate that they have to and that's known as pressure. "COYDB."

The last minute defeat and Farsley's last minute win was a disaster. They have seven more games in March compared to our three, so by the end of this month they could be out of sight. Let's just hope they drop some points on the way. Losing Walshaw to suspension and the sheer weight of games might go in our favour, but we can't afford any more displays like yesterday. Having turned things round at the end of the first half you would have thought the momentum would be with us but the opposite was the case. Three goals conceded in the league for the first time since the opening game of the season revealed some defensive deficiencies not shown recently. We were on the back foot from the time of their first "fluke" goal. The only consolation is the thought that Farsley are shipping goals. I agree that being at home in the playoffs, should that happen, would not necessarily be to our advantage.

Difficult to know he was playing yesterday though, other than poorly hit set pieces.
But pretty much everyone was poor. So much time and space in our box with Mercer and Steel, but they in turn were given very little protection with people running at them easily, but in turn Wills was having no peace because the players alongside and in front kept giving the ball away. As a whole looked like the side had been out on the lash the night before given the lack of urgency and motor skills.

I said a while ago on another thread that neither Farsley nor ourselves would win every game from then until the end of the season. It's still a case of who will drop least points. If we win the next 5 as we did the 5 before Saturday, we'll pile the pressure back on them. The trick is, of course, to win 5 on the trot! Everyone is entitled to an off day #COYDB

There's one with the Goole defeat.
