Stalybridge Empty Stalybridge

I suppose that in our current position any three points are important, but given the way results went for other clubs around the relegation places, these three were  particularly important. They consolidated our position to a degree, but also seemed to merely keep us treading water. When we scored two in the first 45 minutes I had my hopes raised that we might beat our season's two goal per game limit for the first time. There were a number of strange results on Saturday including Mickleover winning away at Scarborough. It's going to be nail-biting until the end of the season I think
Any thoughts from anyone who was there?

They shoulda equalised again and we may have half rode our luck in the second 45 but it was deserved. By half riding our luck I mean they had some decent efforts that would have gone in on other days.

I missed Buxton but went to the other side of Manchester for this one.

Probably shaded it for me, Stalybridge are a massive side and might have had more of the ball but did next to nothing with it. Whereas when we got in around the box we looked lively - Charlie Bailey was excellent and Killer as good as he’s been for a while.

They came onto us at the end as expected but I don’t remember our keeper making a save of any significance.

In the context of other results a very welcome set of points. Especially with no Carsley, Blinkhorn, Williams, Lonsdale (is he still about?) Winder etc

Ryan Winder played & scored for Northwich Victoria in the Fa vase on saturday, is it a permanent move or a loan move ??

Ryan Winder ought to be one of the first on the team sheet: a definite starter.

Don't be afraid of disagreeing with me.

You never know 'Lash someone else might enter the debate now.

I have only seen 1 or 2 games this season so my opinion can hold no weight. However it has long been my opinion from what I have seen in previous years and the stats that Ryan Winder is not good enough for this level. Does OK whenever he drops down or plays against a lower league side in a cup. Failed at Warrington in this league, has failed thus far for us in this league.

My personal view is that Ryan is good enough - indeed better than good enough, but his lack of consistency lets him down. Over the last couple of seasons - post Conny, and with Sam injured - he's often been the only one in the side willing to have a crack at goal, rather than try to walk the ball in, or pass it when anywhere near the penalty box. However, on current form, he's no better than the 3 or 4 others in the squad competing for the one place. A spell in a new environment may be just the tonic he needs, especially if he gets to play in a Wembley Final !
