There are only two sections, football and non-football

Perhaps the more mature reflection on this whole topic is the local government district (Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham, Carnforth) has a population of 133,914 and attendances are depressing for both clubs.

....and things are not helped by our wonderful national media who believe that the only football is in the Poxypremier League and its illegitimate European offspring the Finishwhereyoulikeandcallyourselveschampions League and The Ropey League.

Just takes a rich Arab to walk down West Road one day, as they usually do, and he says 'Hey I'll have a piece of that' - watch the fans pour in !!

Why would any arab rich or poor walk down West Road? LOL!!!!
£10 for some FA Cup 4th round games this weekend, sign of the times for that great old competition as well.
Joked about it many years ago City could win the Football league as it was then and struggle to get 500!!! It isn't a sporting area let alone football Vale don't exactly pull 'em either.

Eee when i was a lad !! Well not so actually, more my elder brother says City used to get crowds of 1000 - 1500 regularly in the 60's. Mind the town had factories then where you walk out on one job and get another the same afternoon.

Afraid your brother is dreaming there! Maybe in the early fifties, but in the 60s crowds hovered around 500, with the occasional boost for the visits of Overlune and maybe one or two others. And those who came largely came to moan.sparrows left peg wrote:Eee when i was a lad !! Well not so actually, more my elder brother says City used to get crowds of 1000 - 1500 regularly in the 60's. I recall the 4th Qualifying Round FA Cup tie v Bangor City in 1964 attracting a gate of 2,300 including a full trainload from Bangor: the following week's League game against Barrow Reserves had gate of 300+.
