Ossett Win Empty Ossett Win

It was a great win so surprised not many commenting on it!

Second half performance was a joy to watch. Not just for the goals, but for the effort and determination that was a factor in everything that worked well for us. The pitch was like concrete in some areas.

Rob Bordman is a very good player for about 25 minutes each half before he disappears. Classic non-league attribute.

Both sides could have scored more in that second half, but we were good money for the win. Here's hoping we can make it 5 and 6 in a row this week with the two home games Very Happy

A good job he disappeared when presented with that easy chance near the end.

It would have been a very long final two minutes or so Very Happy

Tomorrow's game gives us a chance to move into a playoff place, although we will have played more games than those around us. 80 points is a tall order, but if we can pick up points from tomorrow's game, plus Glossop and Northwich in the next few weeks, then the remaining fixtures are all winnable. Here's hoping our run continues.

What we don't know of course is how many points will be needed; they always talk about getting to 40 points in the Premiership but the average to stay up since the 38 game set up was introduced is under 37.

Looking at the Evo-Stik archives for the last four seasons, the lowest total needed to take the last play-off place was 77 points. Even to get to that mark would mean us taking 41 points from the 54 still available to play for.

In 2013-4 to get fifth a club would have had to collect 83 points so if it was to be the same again, City would have to get 47 points out of 54.

It's a hell of an ask!

I have a feeling though, judging by the league table today and the teams in it, that this will be one of the lowest point totals needed for a playoff place in a long while.

There are two good teams fighting for top spot. Glossop who look set for 3rd, and then everyone else. No stand out contenders. Even Spennymoor have been dropping points left right and centre.

Not saying I think we'll make it, the squad is still just a little thin when injuries hit, but I'm hopeful we can make at least the top 7/8.
