Burscough 2-2 FT
4/12/2012, 22:10
A game of two halves. First half we attacked, played a high line and threw a lot of men forward and we controlled the game and were unlucky only to get two goals out of it. Swabba's 35 yard goal was absolute quality.
Second half we sat back, played deep and hit long fucking balls for 45 minutes to the corners and dropped two points as a result. Burscough were dire. What a waste of two points dropped

Burscough were better than dire. Both teams seemed pretty average (as the league positions suggest) first half, difference being City scored a good goal, and then an excellent one - whilst in another chance contriving to not have a single player attacking the ball when it was a foot off the goal-line which would be a concern because you're not going to score goals like Swabba's every week. Have to admit when I turned up I thought it slightly bizarre that Elderton was playing central midfield, and Rob Wilson wide left but didn't seem to hurt for the first half at least.
Second half, Burscough kept going, Lancaster were terrible. Sadly so far the trademark of Wainy/Stringy era of hoof and hope, panic, no structure etc.

Disagree myself. We made them look good second half and towards the end of the first. They didn't offer much going forward and were very shakey defensively. They deserved a draw, but that's more a comment on how we played rather than Burscough.
Our players were better than their players, but their team was probably fractionally better than ours is what I'm trying to say.

Indeed, they were beatable but good enough to take advantage when we fell apart. Currently they are round about average for this league, sad thing is we're below average.

Agreed. It is a poor League this season, and we are a poor side in it. The Eldo/Wilson arrangement certainly seemed odd, especially with Rob far from fit. Was there any reason for not starting with Wills in centre midfield and Ryan on the left? Whiteside's departure seemed to be the turning point though I don't blame McD for the goals.

Whiteside certainly has a presence, more than the other keepers have had this season. Nearly every line-up now seems to have square pegs in round holes in it. If Wilson is carrying a knock, then HE should have been on the bench with Dodgy out left and Kilifin partnering Swabba. Still the dynamic duo pick the team not me !!

19 games 22 points. This is our 6th year in this league and in the previous 5 seasons we've always had more than this at this stage.
It seems we have a sending off every third game or so as well - discipline gone to pot too.

[b]Both sides played hoof to a certain extent, however when we decided to play on the ground we looked decent, first goal well worked, second spectacular.
Thought they were fitter than us in the 2nd half, losing Wilson and Whiteside to injury didn't help although no blame to McDonald with respects to the goals.
The young full back did OK after a nervy start. Didn't lose and we could have done.
