I think the Connerton/Jackson strike partnership is looking very promising already, and the support play of the midfield was also very good.I heard some dissatisfaction from Warrington fans with their lack of ideas in terms of changing the game once they were behind. As alasher says, they still kept hitting it into the wind even when it became apparent that wasn't going to help. I don't actually thinKW arrington are the best team in the league- the number of games more they have played than Ashton makes the table a little misleading, but they are clearly up there. I can only assume they are a lot better when not playing against us (or Darlington for that matter, as they have also beaten the Wire twice).
I'd say Ashton are going to win the league, but I certainly fancy our chances for the playoffs, and I don't think I would fear our rivals if we keep playing the way we are.

I concur with all of this. I assume there was a fair amount of tactical talk in the dressing room at half time (they took a long time to re-emerge !) about how to play the conditions - if so, hats off to Darren and George. I'd almost written our chances off at half time, but City did it superbly in the second half, and was, in the circumstances, the best 45 minutes I've seen from a City side in a long while. By contrast, Wire were clueless in both halves - how many times in the second half did a long ball from midfield hammer into the backboards behind Mike Hale's goal with a frustrated forward chasing it from 40 yards behind - 10 ? A dozen ?
If we can keep this form going next Saturday, we must have a great chance against Curzon. They're wobbling, are now carrying a handful of suspensions and had another forward (Ryan Brooke) sent off yesterday. What a great way that would be to start a Christmas programme against some of the lesser lights in the Division.

I certainly don't want to dampen enthusiasm in the light of a superb performance, but keep in mind that we do have a small squad, and that an injury or two can make a huge difference (think Hunter, Steel, Henry, earlier in season, and Marshy now). Darlo's vastly superior resources are likely to serve them well as the season wears on.

'We lost to a very good Darlington team last week and in terrible weather conditions yesterday.'
A sentence lifted from Wire forum. True, but not an entirely honest summation, I feel.

Marshy's targetting the trip to Burscough or the visit of Rail. Glenn had a heavy 50/50 with Wire's keeper yesterday and seemingly shook it off.
As with this type of impact. it may have a delayed effect. Hope our 'kingpin' defender's ok.
As for terrier Thierry, an annoying recurrence of a long-standing hammy problem twinged itself badly enough for him to emote a 'F****** h***!' as he left the fray early yesterday.

Best home performance of the season I think. Everyone got a real buzz off the win, as you can tell by so many people coming on here to talk about it Probably the best home game since we beat Skelmersdale Utd by the same scoreline in TH's last season.
Warrington were clueless going forward and our defence and Hale cleaned up everything. We have enough firepower upfront to beat any team when our back line plays well. Connerton's return has made such a difference as he's a different class.
Bring on the Curzon!

I tell you who else had a good game - the referee. OK, I know we tend to moan less about refs when we win, and perhaps it wasn't the hardest of games to ref as both sides wanted to play proper football. But still I reckon he was very good - I can't remember anything of note that he got wrong and he played his cards right. Given the verbal flak we rightly give refs when they have a shocker it's only right that we should let them know when we think they've done well.

Good shout from the Pink Floyd devotee. I thought that the ref had a good game in difficult circumstances too

....and I for one made a point of saying "Good game, ref" as he headed down the tunnel. We've seen him before, and he has generally been pretty good.
