CITY 3 - 1 Workington Empty CITY 3 - 1 Workington

Been a good pre-season so far Very Happy

Quite like the look of the no.17 Chris Zueswicki. Very similar player to Zach Clark. Thought we played very well considering we were without Hunter, Winters and played the 2nd half without Mahoney. Many positives, hardly any negatives.

Quite a large pre-season crowd as well.

Some of our one touch play was excellent today. Also like the way we are trying to pass and play our way out of defence instead of hoofing it upfield. Jacko showed why we brought him back, especially in the second half and Kilifin, Wills and Clark, playing at CB, also did well. I don't know if they had any players on their hols but Workington were shite.

I presume Jordan didn't play for them? (Or am I behind the times and he's somewhere else now?)

Exactly how we judge this result & performance will depend on how strong a side Workington had out. I was told that they had probably nine of their "first choice eleven" (although I was in the club office when they made a change to their team sheet at around 2.15, so it may actually be 8 out of 11) starting, & if this is true it was an excellent performance. I also was impressed by the way that we tried to pass the ball when possible rather than "hoofing" it out of defence. It was good to see Rob Henry back in a Dolly Blue shirt, and although Gav Clark did well at centre half, is he really a season-long solution? In fact, I think that we have only five recognised defenders in a squad of (currently) 22, although having said that we looked competent at the back. With Garry Hunter away, Simon Wills slotted into centre midfield well alongside the impressive Danny Mahoney (note the Janb....please let him stay for the season!! Smile ) Tom Killifin was outstanding I thought, & Jacko was as good as Jacko is.  Ryan Winder was impressive & lively down the right, & Billy McKenna & then Chris Zueswicki offered pace on the right. All in all very impressive.
Nice to see a decent crowd on too, the new bar area seemed to be something of a focal point....long may it continue!!!

Hope we haven't peaked too soon Shocked

I hope he does too (good player) and that my pessimism is ill founded Smile
