Meet the manager

Last year (I think) we could send questions in or put them on here if we couldn’t make it. Same again?

I’d be interested to know what areas of the team he still thinks could be strengthened? Contract situation for him and the key players (who he thinks are key at least)? Longer term ambitions for the club? Is promotion viable on our crowds and infrastructure?
I’ve a load of questions about the running of the club but doubt they’ll get answered!!

I would imagine that Keith will provide a summary in next week's s/c newsletter
As for the questions asked above... neither Mark nor Graham have a contract. Some players do, although none were named.
He feels we need another striker for cover,is especially happy with midfield & acknowledged that we have an aging central defence.
Ambition for this season is hopefully top 5. Whether playing in the division above is sustainable is open to question

Have had sight of the newsletter, excellent summery. Few areas of interest, I cannot believe after the progress we’ve made that they’re not pinned onto contracts, start well and someone bigger will take them - I believe their were enquiries last season.
Looks like the GK decision has been made, I’ll be sad to see Sam Ashton go, but the staff see them more than I do, and Wolfie will ensure we’re always well prepped in that area!
Was the pitch and facilities at the Axe mentioned last night? Or the clubs plans off the field?

Mark said that contracts are s double-edged sword. A player does well & a bigger club snaps them up,but also a player on contract could break their leg in the warm up on the 14th & the club has to pay them for the rest of the season. He gave the impression that any that he feels have the potential to go higher are on contract.
No mention of anything concerning the ground or its facilities

Disappointing news for Sam Ashton in the club's news release but clearly from comments made on Thursday evening Mark Fell feels there are better alternatives. Can only wish him well for the future as he has been excellent whilst at the Giant Axe.
Is the friendly against Kendal at home on Tuesday evening?

I now see the game is at Kendal and implies it will mainly be the U23 players .
The club's twitter feed was non existent till the final whistle today. At least Colne had a few updates on theirs.
Neither however gave the teams. At the managers forum on Thursday Mark Fell said he expected that whoever was in goal today would be the goalie for the opening game(s). So was it the loanee from Bolton or the trialist goalie with Scottish experience?

Question answered from Colne's website. Their match report says Matt Alexander in our goal
