Is it our first ever win on drastic plastic?

A gritty, determined performance against a side clearly very comfortable on their 4G surface - won all 4 this season without conceding a single goal before Saturday. The modern plastic is not as drastic as those we've experienced previously but it does still confer an advantage to the home side, though I thought our lads dealt with it admirably. Also did well to keep the score at 0-1 to half time, as their front two and right winger were a handful in the first 45, and credit to Mike Hale for a tremendous triple save coming up to the break.
The start of the second half looked unpromising, with 2 subs on by then - Daniel S. for Billy, and Olly Crolla for Adam R., both injured, but the lads just stuck to the basics very effectively and eventually ground Hyde down - defended superbly, denied them space and attacked well on the break - Connerton involved in everything going forward, and eventually Jacob Gregory just tilted at them full pelt - picked up the ball on the half way line, a give 'n go with Connie on the edge of the box and just ploughed on until he almost fell into the goal with the ball - terrific determination.
At which point the Hyde side virtually capitulated, and created nothing in the final 15 mins - 3rd sub on by now (Rob Henry for Ben Hudson), but the 2 earlier subs made and scored the winner; Dan S. turned the left full back superbly and left him for dead. His hard low cross found Connie who tried to find space to shoot, but the ball broke for Olly Crolla who made no mistake. Hyde dead and buried now, with no response.
And Brocker, yes - I think it is our first competitive win on plastic !!

Rubbish first half but didn't look like conceding again after we did. Mercer unphased at all times.
Dan Shearwood is looking very dangerous and out of Crolla, Robinson and himself possesses the most technical ability. That left hand side spot has become a positive selection dilemma for the first time in years.

Pretty much up until we scored this game was actually worse than the Bamber Bridge game. Our work ethic paid off this time around and after we scored we never looked back.
The 4G pitch was fucking awful. Ball bouncing all over the place and players getting their feet caught in the rubber. Neither team were able to play passing football on it and it was a very hoofy game.
Nice to finally get a win on the plastic though, even if it wasn't the prettiest.
Despite missing his chances Connerton put in a good shift despite being starved of service. Mayers similarly.
Bring on the Darlo! #COYDB
