Captain Fantastic hits six in 9 - 1 Win at Home

We welcomed Accrington Girls & Ladies to the Giant axe for this league game and with some enforced changes due to injury work and illness the Gaffer gave his instructions as to what was expected of the squad in this important clash.
We started from the kick off with a ball played out to Emily Wilson who cut inside and headed straight for goal only to see her shot go straight to the keeper, 3 mins in and on their first attack we got caught cold and flatfooted at the back and Accrington didn't waste the chance and went up 0 - 1. Jess Hogg put through on 5 mins put her shot straight to the keeper, on 13mins Emily Wilson met a Georgia Wilson corner and put it low to the keepers left the equaliser had come 1 - 1.
This sprung us in to life and we began to take the game to Accrington we started to put our passing together and our off the ball movement began to create space Kayleigh Young opened her account for the day on 19mins by applying pressure on the keeper which forced a mistake and a simple tap in for her first and our second 2 - 1, a minute later Kayleigh Young latched onto a pass from Georgia Wilson ran into the box and hit a right foot shot which nestled into the bottom left 3 - 1 Young in search of her Hat Trick following a Jess Hogg flick on beat the offside trap but saw her effort go agonisingly wide.
27 mins in and an Accrington attack was won by Emma Gardner on our 18yd line played to right back Jenny MacDonald who set off on a run towards the halfway line did a give and go with Emily Wilson and continued into the 18yd box and passed to Jess Hogg who buried it low to the right of the keeper 4 -1, Jess Weston had a chance to increase our lead but saw her shot go into the side netting on 31mins. 5mins later Kayleigh Young gets her Hat Trick after some good football down the right Emily Wilson played a low cross into Young's feet right to left and we were 5 - 1 up, With 5mins to the break a corner from Emma Gardner was met by a defender and headed clear towards the by-line Jess Hogg was first to react and crossed back into the box Kayleigh Young met it with her head and put us 6 - 1 up going into the break,
The squad was asked to keep their concentration and keep playing our passing game with the exception of the first couple of minutes we had totally dominated the game but if we took our foot off now it could quickly change, 52mins substitute Amy Braithwaite got the ball out wide and played to the overlapping Jenny MacDonald who played a ball behind the back four Kayleigh Young pounced and went towards goal the keeper and defender closed in a clash of bodies and the ball ended up in the net after a flick over the back of Kayleigh Young's head of the floor to put us 7 - 1 up (we are still scratching our heads how she did it )
60mins a free kick 20yds out went into the roof of the net from Miya Jacksons left foot a great effort just going the wrong side of the bar, 77mins Player of the Match Kayleigh Young gets her 6th of the day with a solo effort giving us a 8 - 1. with 2mins to go a ball into Jess Hogg from Jess Weston with a delightful flick over the back four Georgia Wilson ran onto it and beat the keeper low to her right giving us our 9th of the day, a good team performance ensured we gained the 3 points today and kept us at the top of the league.
