Lots of hoof in this one, early Swabba goal, then they bombarded us with high stuff, did well to survive, then two set pieces did us.
Better side in the second half should probably have got something especially as their keeper was dodgy.

After the opening 10 minutes where we looked good on the counter attack, the game was pretty dull and scrappy.
Can't believe New Mills are one of the top teams this season. They were immensely average.

Going in to the game thought Sam Egerton-Wilson would be a weak link based on his time with us, but to his credit he played very well. Without their defensive rearguard we would have got something out of it as they completely disappeared as an attacking threat in the second half.

New Mills were a good passing side in the first half - it wasn't just hoof from them though it was from us - and could well have got more than two goals. The fact that they both came from set pieces is a bit deceptive. They aren't the best side we have seen at the Axe this season but they are far from the worst.
OK, they were helped by the fact that we didn't press them, and when we did get possession we just kept passing the ball back to them.
Second half we were probably the better team but never really looked like scoring, apart from at the odd set piece. Neither side was passing properly and the game was of fairly poor quality, but we at least had a bit more energy than we showed in the first half.
Swabba and Wills were our best players overall - they both ran their hearts out. Swabba also showed some ball skills when in possession, so I'll make him my MOTM. But I wish we had someone - anyone - who looks comfortable on the ball and can pass it properly.

Danny Mac deserves some credit for some good first half saves.
