supporters club
14/3/2013, 09:07
There will be a meeting in the Vic pub (on the corner of Willow Lane) on Saturday March 30th (which I am reliably in formed is " Holy Saturday") @1.30 prior to the home game v New Mills. The aim of this is to move forward the formation/reformation of a Lancaster City supporters club. Please try to attend,or contact myself ( stevemrw1964@aol.com ) if you cant attend, but are interested. We need people not just to join a supporters club, but also to help form/run it. This is an important issue, not least because the elected President of this club will be sitting in on board meetings.

Response to not just this thread, but also to the email I sent out has been pretty apathetic. Noone has contacted Keith to mke even the most basic suggestions, such as membership fees,or what they want from a supporters club.It would make it much easier to amke progress if we have some idea of how people want to move on ( or even if they do WANT to move on!)

So it's got off to a typical City like fashion then! To be fair, I'd guess the lack of response isn't apathy but more a case of never set up a supporters' club before don't know what to suggest. Going from the emails...
I liked the suggestion of a President, Chairman/General Secretary and Secretary/Treasurer with the President going onto the board. Nice and simple and all bases are covered. As for different categories of members I haven't the foggiest. Call me a socialist but I'd personally be in favour of just members and corporate members if that's how we'd approach it.
I haven't really much of an idea what to suggest on any of the matters like annual fees as I don't know what they would cover? If it's an annual fee on top of the existing fans' fund I would assume it shouldn't be too large. Something like £10 a year? Enough to offset any costs with any money left over perhaps being donated to the Ground Maintenance Committee to help keep Giant Axe looking sparkly?
A supporters' club meeting every two months except in extraordinary circumstances? Can't see too much changing that would need anything more regular.
I'd also like to see some effort made to make consistent away travel possible to all supporters in the club, in a separate issue. Even though away numbers and numbers in general have dropped, ever increasing petrol and train costs mean travelling as one in numbers makes fiscal sense. We still manage to take at least 20 to the biggest shitholes in this country.
There we go. Ball rolling. Who's next?

Again with never being involved with a supporters club I wouldn't know what to suggest really. I think the idea about setting up regular away travel is a good shout though because the cost of petrol is the only reason preventing me from travelling at the minute

I agree with most of what Jonny has said.
At the meeting on Sat' we need volunteers to fill these positions.
I can think of 4or5 already but do they want/able to do it!

Do people already contributing to the fans' fund automatically become members? And if so is there any need for a membership fee from them?
