Brig
4/1/2017, 19:26
After a bright start, taking the lead & spurning numerous other chances, we were pegged back by a petty handy-looking side. After the first 15 minutes we ended up looking second best. I thought this was the day that missed chances were going to cost us, as we really didn't look like getting back into the game. The introduction of Jacob Gregory changed things, although until their keeper's howler, I still couldn't see us scoring. After that there was only one team going to win. Tbh they seemed to lose their way after they made a horrid mis-kick on the edge of our area, which broke up a dangerous-looking attack.
Does anyone else fancy Glen Steel back as cover for Ricky Mercer, or maybe our 32nd right back of the season? We look much softer in defence without Ricky's experience & organisation

Really didn't expect that with an hour gone. Was following the score on my phone on my travels. Ossett Albion and Mayers scoring within minutes of each other was fantastic
It'll all be for nothing if we don't win at Goole though. Agreed that sooner Ricky is back the better. Good to see Connie back amongst the goals. Him and Mayers are forming a formidable strike duo. The kind you want if you're going to go on a title run...
So we're over the half way point of the season now lads! Top of the league with breathing space. Only one thing to say really...COME ON YOU DOLLY BLUES!!

Gregory changed it all when he came on.
Keeper was unlucky as he had a decent game but as alasher said there was only one winner from then on.
Carney should have shot himself for the winner and Mayers did really well to keep it down.

Agree with Lasher if we could get Glen Steel in for the rest of the season I think we would win this league. When Mercer isn't playing we look very likely to concede. We may have to let a player or two go to fund anyone coming in but with the amount of midfielders we have that shouldn't be a problem. We are never going to have a better chance of winning this league but we need to stop conceding soft goals.

Must say I'm a but surprised to hear we'd have to let players go to bring someone in, the squad already seems a bit thin on the ground and we've recently let Charlie Russell, Chris Anderson and Billy McKenna all leave, albeit on dual registrations.

Not sure we'd have to let players go it was just a thought, maybe one out one in.

Having just read the Guardian, maybe it's me Bill. Looks like we're overrun with bodies at the moment.

21 players to choose from apparently.
GK: Hale, Raybould
DF: Birch, Clark, Davis, Henry, Hudson, Mercer, Sumner, Westwood
MF: Akrigg, Carney, Crolla, Gregory, Shearwood, Wills, Winder
F: Connerton, Fraser-Gray, Mayers, Waters
That's a pretty decent squad...

Of course missing from that squad is the scoring sensation of the latter part of last season, Zach.
I read somewhere, maybe on Twitter, that he had been given the go ahead to resume training/playing. Isn't he still considered part of our squad?
