Ladies aveenge opening day defeat.
27/9/2015, 16:44
Having been narrowly and somewhat undeservedly beaten by Galgate in the opening game at the 'Axe', the Ladies went to Galgate today and came away with all 3 points as a result of a commendable 2-0 victory. Make no mistake this was a thoroughly well deserved success and for me personally a massive pick me up after the debacle at Droylsden yesterday, thanks girls. A tight first half, as City kicked up the slope, saw the score sheet blank at halftime, which is exactly what had been targeted, then playing down the slope in the second half City were just too strong for Galgate. There were good individual performances across the park, and it was nice Lucy to see a goalkeeper dominate her area, but the game was won by an impressive team effort which the opposition couldn't match and that hopefully augurs well for the coming weeks. Having won their last 2 games and only narrowly losing in the other game, the confidence in the side is clear to see and that's important but equally the girls now need to guard against over confidence and complacency - you now know you can win games, after all Galgate came into this game with 2 victories and 8 goals behind them, but that counts for nothing when the next game comes round if you don't approach it with the same attitude as you did today's.
Unfortunately I wont be around the next 2 Sundays but I'm already anticipating my next game - well done girls and keep on keeping on.
