Looking at the remaining fixtures I see that we have to play all of the current top six away from home.

It's going to be a real test of our improved form since the turn of the year.

Indeed!

Last season the final play-off place went to Ramsbottom with 80 points, although they had three points deducted due to a breach of rules, so from a purely football point of view 83 points were needed.

Our maximum possible this season (15 games left) is 85. Can we manage 14 wins and a draw to scrape into the play-offs?  

In actual fact, if we can win the three games in hand, we would have the same points total as the clubs currently 5th and 6th!

Welcome to dreamland. As well as we are currently playing, it's a lot of ground to make up. Our best chance is to hope that all the sides in the playoff mix take points off each other. I reckon at a push we could reach 75 points, which has been enough in previous years.

True, it wasn't too serious a suggestion, hence the use of the 'smiley' thing! However, since that post we've won two more games and 85 points is still a possibility, if only mathematically. Mind you, it was only a few seasons ago we won 13 on the trot.....

Given that some clubs below us can overhaul us, maybe a finish in the top ten would represent a decent effort, from where we were.

A huge amount of credit though must be given to the players and the management for what's happened recently. When we played Padiham just before Christmas we had 22 points. Less than two months later we've come within a point of doubling that tally. A great effort.
