City 3 - 4 Garstang

Pre-season game was very pre-seasony. Only a handful of first team players present, plastic pitch, three thirty minute "periods" and a million substitutions.
When we had our strongest side out in the opening "thirty" and went in at the break 2-0 up we were well on top. The thousands of subs then followed and we ended up losing 4-3. Not the best game as a spectacle in between all the goals. Very scrappy, no slide tackles etc.
Starting line up: Hale, Hudson, Davis, Marshall, Clark, Sergeant, Akrigg, Draycott, Dodgson, Taylor, Woods
Subs: Donlan, Wearing, Hoyle, Birch, a defender...maybe some others who escape my memory
Goals from Taylor, Draycott (nice free kick) and Akrigg. About 50 souls braving the threatening weather to watch. Impressive debuts from Raheem Sergeant on the wing (from Barbados) and Josh Draycott in the middle of the park.
Looking forward to seeing a match played on grass.

Is Tom Woods the same as Tom Wood who played for us about three seasons ago before starting the exodus to Australia?

How can Tom Woods possibly be the same as Tom Wood ? Their names aren't even the same.

With names like Wood and Woods people are often a bit hazy as to whether they have an S or not.South of the river wrote:How can Tom Woods possibly be the same as Tom Wood ? Their names aren't even the same.

I often find that reading or listening to someone's name helps.

The fact that today's scorer is given as Tom Wood rather negates the somewhat sarcastic note above. Reading a name only helps if it's spelt correctly to avoid any confusion. Also, how can Brocker be expected to listen to a name written in a chat room? Is it Wood or Woods?

Well I bet that Brocker's delighted that you've protected him from that vitriolic piece of sarcasm. I would hope that you monitor all further responses to your chum's posts. You never know, someone may serve him a dish of irony next time.
