Matlock

Is there anyone else out there as curious as I about how we may fare this season? I haven't yet seen the team play (from what little team news I've seen I don't think that all the latest signings have played together in one game) & can so offer no opinion. I'm an eternal optimist & so am hopeful for the forthcoming season.I think that we've signed some decent experienced players for this division. Fingers crossed eh folks?

Again, without seeing the team in pre season, I can make a judgement from the players we've already got and signed. I think we should finish higher than 18th {17th as it turned out after Rushall's points deduction tho they did appeal,} I don't think we'll make the play-offs or come anywhere near. We look woefully short up front if anything happens to Blinkhorn and we can't rely on Carney's goals from midfield to get us out of trouble.. Tom Kilifin will get you 10-12 a season IF he is picked regularly which I'm not sure he will be. The midfield itself looks a bit stronger with Richie Baker and Rob Wilson added but again we've lost Carney but Richie is more than an adequate replacement. If Jarvo can get back to full fitness after his illness and click, he'll be like a new signing too because we all know what he is capable of. I believe Ryan Winder has shone in pre-season and he's another who, on his day, can be a match winner. The midfield line-up as the season goes on should be interesting with the Bailey brothers to be thrown into the mix too. I'd personally play Charlie just behind Blinkhorn as a roaming number 10. his best position IMO. The defence looks to be relying on Steve Williams staying fit, after Ricky Mercer' departure, something that has always been a concern throughout his career. If led to be believed, we've also signed Lewis Fensome, who could turn out to be the best signing of the lot. I thought he did exceptionally well last season when he was here for a short spell. It will also be interesting to see this new system and style that PB has told us of. If it's anything different to hoofing the ball upfield to a lone striker to hold up or flick on then i'm up for it. Talking of PB, is he under pressure ? I'd say so. Last season turned out to be a major
disappointment after a decent start. The football was poor to watch at times but he'll say it was a learning curve. But it was the same for Farsley and look where they finished. I'm not Anti-Brown. far from it, here is the man who will be remembered for getting us promoted, though I think we all know that was Jordan Connerton. But he has to improve on last term or at least entertain a bit more. Its not only one team goes down this season either, we are back to normal so can't get sucked into a relegation battle. I've not mentioned the keeper situation because basically I've never seen him play yet or ever heard of him. My Prediction for what it's worth, a finish of about 11th or 12th. Take no notice of my Mystic Meg skills tho, I tipped us to finish 8th when we won the league. He needs a good start though, starting at Matlock on Saturday COYDB

Good to see some activity on the forum at last. I was beginning to think the club had folded, especially given the complete lack of coverage recently in the local paper. Is it now called The Morecambe Guardian? Have to agree with SLP 's analysis of the current squad. A mid-table finish would be a good season, combined with a decent cup run and some money in the bank.
