League Cup Empty League Cup

29/1/2018, 22:35
What a shambles. Our cup game v Warrington is postponed because they have to play a Cheshire Senior Cup game and now that game is also off. Presumably that game will now have to be played ahead of ours, so with all the midweek league games coming up for both teams, it looks like we will be playing catchup for weeks to come. Is it any wonder competitions like this aren't taken seriously?

No one cares anyway. I'd rather we just forfeit.

A super regionalised league cup is the most boring thing in the football calendar. Play the teams you're already bored of playing, but this time with absolutely nothing at stake.

Glorified friendlies these.

Even more complicated now, with Warrington playing last night's postponed game next Wednesday. That will also be off if they have to replay their Trophy game from Saturday. But as succinctly put by LFC-LCFC, who cares?

Given that Warrington’s county cup game was postponed (presumably) yesterday afternoon sometime, could our game with them not have been reinstated for tomorrow evening?

Or does there have to be a minimum of several days’ notice before a fixture can be arranged?

My cups runneth over. So now we play Chorley on 28th March, the week in which we were due to play Stafford away. Also, in the same week, we will be playing the quarter final of the League Cup if we beat Workington next Tuesday. Presumably that game will also be postponed as the Lancashire Trophy takes precedence. I think we will have a rather hectic schedule in April if we make progress in both cups.

Not like we'll have anything to play for in the League other than fulfilling fixtures

I can't understand why the semi final has been put back to the 28th when we have no midweek games in the two weeks after the Workington cup game and Chorley have a free week beginning the 19th. Surely it could have been played before the end of the month to avoid any further postponements to our league games. As DTID points out, we might as well concentrate on the cup to keep the season alive.

So we now play Stafford away on 10th March instead of the 27th and Buxton at home is moved to April 24th. Only problem now is that the Lancashire Trophy final is scheduled for April 23rd. I wonder if the two competitions consult each other when fixtures are re-arranged. Maybe the league is waiting to see if we get through but I would have thought that week could have been avoided.
